Today's video Small Bathrooms Big Ideas is about designing a bathroom in a small house

Yes, small bathrooms can look spectacular if we consider basic design principles and concepts ranging from colors types of tiles materials lying to major details such as faucets. Because you guys ask me a lot about small spaces, today I’ll share with you 10 tips to make a small bathroom look larger modern and high-end. Before we begin, don’t forget to subscribe to my channel and turn on the notifications bell because you don’t want to miss out on the upcoming design lessons okay let’s begin with today’s video let’s begin by talking about the right colors and textures in a small bathroom it’s ideal to select a light color palette that doesn’t mean that an all-white bathroom is the best and only option you can mix and match different tiles however focus on using light and soft colors.

Because the surfaces are uniform, huge tiles make this space appear cleaner, larger, and more elegant.

Speaking of textures and colors, my second piece of advice is to look for consistency. Use the same tile in the shower as in the rest of the space to make the space appear larger because it does not have two defined and separated areas in small bathrooms, I recommend using similar colors to ensure visual uniformity. For example, on the floor, you can use matte light gray or white tiles, and on the walls, you can use a similar color but with a glossy finish or a white marble pattern to create subtle contrast. Keep in mind that the feeling of uniformity binds the room together.

My third advice is to choose a minimalist glass shower partition. Glass is a material with serial visual weight; your brain recognizes it but does not perceive it as a solid limit because you can see through it.

Choose minimalist glass partitions over complex structures or curtains to maintain uniformity and allow us to see the entire space, making it feel larger. Although gritted glass partitions are very nice options in small spaces, it’s better to bet on simplicity because it looks cleaner and has more visual permeability. Consider the contrast in these photos: the minimalist partition makes the bathroom appear much larger.

My next suggestion is to emphasize and utilize vertical space, particularly for storage. It’s common to concentrate on the floor as the primary surface within a space, but we can also take advantage of vertical surfaces visually in small spaces.

One effective way to achieve this is to use your vertical space for starch, such as open shelving that extends all the way to the ceiling and can be used to store clean towels or other items.

You can use the wall space above the commode to install shelves and use it as open storage. Look at this bathroom; they’ve turned that unused space into open shelves that go from floor to ceiling; it’s a useful alternative that emphasizes the bathroom’s vertical lines. a pair of wings

take a look at another clever concept very practical and straightforward This vertical storage installed on the wall emphasizes the vertical lines while creating more surfaces for daily use and adding something exciting and authentic to look at. Also, consider this minimalist structure mounted on the ceiling, which is useful for storing daily essentials and details such as candles or plants. It takes up no area because it is suspended from the ceiling and reinforces the room’s vertical lines.

Another great idea is to use the highest area of your walls as a storage space because it does not visually clutter the room. Take a look at this example where they have used the space above the door to keep clean towels available.

The following advice is to use a large mirror. A mirror is essential in any bathroom, especially in small spaces, because it reflects the area and the light. An excellent idea is to opt for one large mirror even if you have two sinks. This unifies the space and makes the bathroom look elegant and larger. You can dare to take your mirror up to the ceiling. In this case, you may need a customized mirror, but this is the best way to enlarge a room. My next advice is to consider the lighting plan in interior design.

Lighting is the secret ingredient; a good lighting plant gives this space a modern appearance while also making it safe and bright, making it feel bigger.

Don’t settle for a single light bulb in the center of the ceiling; this is insufficient to ensure pleasing aesthetics and usefulness. Consider distributing different lighting sources into space to achieve uniform general lighting if you are building your bathroom from scratch I recommend that you include architectural lighting you can opt for led lines to define your space and incorporate them under the floating vanity or behind the mirror these allow you to brighten up the space without having visible lighting fractures these allow you to brighten up the space without having visible lighting fractures

Apart from the ceiling light, it’s convenient to include wall lamps in the vanity to have sufficient illumination to see our faces without uncomfortable shadows. To achieve this, it’s ideal to have lights above or on both sides of the mirror.

By the way, if you want to learn more about lighting design, I recommend watching these two videos in which I discuss the basic lighting design concepts and how to select the best lamps for your space. I’ll leave the links in the description box below. My next tip is to have hidden compartments. Having a lot of bottles in your bathroom is not attractive because it clutters the space and makes your bathroom look cheap.

Consider having hidden storage to declutter the space. You can do this by constructing compartments in the wall or by taking advantage of wasted space. For example, you can use the area above the toilet as vertical storage, which is even better if the compartments have a minimalist style.

I like how they combined the hidden compartments with the oven shelving; it’s a practical solution that emphasizes the vertical lines of the space. If you don’t have the space to turn it into storage, you can opt for a mirror with hidden compartments. These mirrors are very functional, simple to find in stores, and you don’t need to make a renovation; you can use a corner with no function to express yourself.

Consider this bathroom, where the customized furniture appears to be a part of the architecture. It has a very accessible compartment for storing products and also functions to place a wall lamp in the vanity area.

Another tip I’d like to share is to keep the bathroom clutter-free. Avoid having bottles visible because each one has a different label, color, and size, which saturates your small bathroom. An alternative to this is to buy modern-looking dispensers, which are very inexpensive and, believe me, make a huge difference.

Also, using baskets to conceal the bottles is an excellent and affordable option. These final details are what transform a standard bathroom into something exceptional. If you have already invested time, effort, and money in renovating your bathroom, please don’t ring it with bottles everywhere. Choosing a flooring vanity is another method to make a small bathroom appear larger.

Wall-mounted furniture makes the space appear bigger due to the floating effect that allows us to see the room’s limits; it’s excellent for efficient use of vertical space; and it looks contemporary and elegant. Make use of your imagination. Choose basic designs that are both inexpensive and attractive.

You can design your vanity by having a customized wooden piece to support your sink and placing open shelves with baskets below. This is a very simple and cost-effective option. The contrast between the wood, sink, and faucet is a luxurious combination.

Another advice for improving a small bathroom is to use wall mounted faucets. Using vertical space is an excellent way to maximize a small space. Wall mounted faucets have a more minimalist and simpler design than traditional ones, making the restroom appear more uncluttered, simple, and high-end.

These faucets come in a variety of shapes, colors, and finishes that you can use to create contrast; they are genuine details that will transform your tiny bathroom from ordinary to exceptional. Remember to consider the style and textures you’ve chosen for your bathroom before selecting your faucet.

These details are the use of space and should complement the overall appearance. An additional tip that I’d like to discuss because it adds movement texture and color to any bathroom is adding nature. Choose types of plants that are easy to maintain based on the amount of natural light and humidity your bathroom has.

If your style is more elegant, you can opt for orchids, which are plants that come from tropical areas, so the humidity and heat in the bathroom is not a problem. In short, they’re to give life and color to your bathroom, including a medium or small plant in any corner.
